Concord
Concord is Contra Costa's most populous city with thousands of white collar jobs in downtown. In 1994, rate by zero population growth as second best city in the state for raising children.
In 1992 California State University, Hayward opened a satellite campus on Ygnacio Valley Road. It offers upper division (Jr. and Sr.) classes and master's degree courses and through Diablo Valley College, is providing community college courses.
Concord is loaded with activities which include water slides, pools, 19 parks, 12 playgrounds, golf courses, community centers and fitness clubs.
Located in West Concord is the giant shopping mall, Sun Valley with such stores as Sears, Penny's, Macy's, Banana Republic, Williams Sonoma and much more. Other shopping areas include Willows Mall with REI, Old Navy, Comp USA, Trader Joe's, and restaurants!
